A body was discovered Saturday morning behind a flood protection seawall near I-20. The remains were found near a set of stairs over the seawall at the site of the former Howard-Griffin building in Monroe. The 40 to 50 year old white male was found hanging from a rope.
Multiple police units responded with many officers wearing protective masks. The body was in a bad state of decomposition and could be smelled hundreds of feet away. The death is believed to be a suicide. The coroner's office office removed the body after the initial police investigation. No other information has been released at this time.
