Train Update: Louisville Ave. Open

Louisville Avenue is now open following a train derailment on Thursday afternoon.

A train derailed at Louisville Avenue near Hixon BMW.  The event happened around 2:30 p.m Thursday.

Emergency agencies reported that five cars of propane have derailed. There is no report of leakage.

Louisville Avenue is now open.

According to Monroe officials, no injuries occurred and it took several hours to get the train cars back on the track. 

Police evacuated nearby residences and businesses within one block of the train as a precautionary measure.
