This week from the Lyric Opera of Chicago they perform Charles Gounod's Romeo and Juliet staring Susanna Philips as Juliet and Joseph Calleja as Romeo, with Joshua Hopkins as Mercutio, Christian Van Horn as Fr. Laurence, Marianne Crebassa as Stephano, Deborah Nansteel as Gertrude, Philip Horst as Capulet, and Jason Slayden as Tybalt. This production is directed by Bartlett Sher with Michael Black as Chorus Master, and the Lyric Opera Orchestra and Chorus all under the direction of Emmanuel Villaume.
