The Ouachita Parish Public Library kicks off summer reading programs this Saturday during "SummerFest".

"We've brought back a single event to make everyone aware of the summer reading programs for kids and adults," says Lakeisha Bosworth, youth services coordinator for the library system.  The book selected for River Reads, an adult reading program, will be announced.  The summer reading challenge for kids is also highlighted during SummerFest.

Bosworth says there will be a special appearance by Cosmo, the universal painter, and several games and activities for kids during the day.

All branches are closed Saturday, May 16th, to highlight the special event held outside the Main Branch location on North 18th Street in Monroe.
