Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker kicks off its United States and Canadian tour in Baton Rouge, and will be at the Jack Howard Theare in Monroe Monday, November 21st at 7 p.m. The Great Russian Nutcracker has been preformed in the United States by the Moscow Ballet since 1993.

The Moscow Ballet's mission is to grow the love of the art of ballet by bringing the best Russian ballet dancers to entertain North American audiences of all ages and backgrounds. The Moscow Ballet connects with the communities it preforms in through working with local dance studios and including local children in the performances.

The ballet is performed to Tchaikovsky’s full score broken into the two acts, though the second act the Moscow Ballet renamed 'Land of Peace and Harmony' as opposed to the traditional name 'Land of Sweets'. The Dove of Peace portion of the ballet is exclusive to the Moscow Ballet.
