"Pro Bowl" of College Water Skiing Comes to ULM

The University of Louisiana Monroe Water Ski team will host the National Collegiate Water Ski All Stars tournament on May 12-13, 2018, on historic Bayou DeSiard.

The tournament features the 10 best men and women skiers from across the U.S. in each of the events of slalom, trick and jump. Instead of competing as individual schools, the teams are composed of skiers based on their region.

The event will start at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, but spectators are encouraged to arrive around 2 p.m.

Judge Milton Moore has made a career out of service to his community, and urges new graduates to find a cause bigger than themselves.

The Honorable Judge Milton Moore, III, of the Louisiana Second Circuit Court of Appeal will be the keynote speaker at the Spring 2018 Commencement at the University of Louisiana Monroe on Saturday, May 12.

KEDM Public Radio takes a a look at Louisiana's changing climate on marijuana at Policy and a Pint: A Blunt Look At Louisiana Marijuana Policy on Tuesday, May 15, with a broadcast on Tuesday, May 22 at 6 p.m. on 90.3 KEDM.

Our open public forum features panel with members who support legalization and those against the new proposals. Our experts are from the fields of addiction recovery and counseling, pharmacology and pharmacy law, and the marijuana lobby.  We discuss medical pot, legalization, health issues, and more.

The University of Louisiana Monroe is hosting its annual program for academically advanced students. The President's Academy is a job training program where students select an academic track and spend a week shadowing professionals and working in groups to solve hypothetical problems.

Dr. Nick Bruno founded the President's Academy in 2012 to help give students an idea of what jobs their major encompasses and what it is actually like to work in those jobs. Dr. Joshua Stockley is an assistant professor of Political Science at ULM and organizes the President's Academy every year.

Judge Milton Moore, III, of the Louisiana Second Circuit Court of Appeal will be the keynote speaker at the University of Louisiana Monroe’s Spring 2018 Commencement on Saturday, May 12.

Recent University of Louisiana Monroe Graduate Tayler Davis has been selected the winner of the Thomson Reuters / White House Correspondents' Association reporting scholarship. Davis was a student journalist and did her undergraduate work at ULM. She volunteers her time at 90.3 KEDM Public Radio and works in the News Department.

The drone program of the University of Louisiana Monroe is working with local farmers to improve crop yields and conserve time.

Associate Professor of Geosciences Dr. Sean Chenoweth and Associate Professor of Aviation Dr. Paul Karlowitz established this program three years ago to not only help local farmers but also to make potential clients aware of the uses of drones in their businesses.  

ULM Hosts 2018 Kickoff with Doug Pederson

ULM hosts its season-ticket sale campaign and fundraiser event "2018 Kickoff with Doug Pederson," Saturday, April 21 in Fant-Ewing Coliseum. The all-day event serves as a fundraiser for Warhawk Football and features Super-Bowl Champion coach and ULM alum Doug Pederson as the key speaker at dinner that evening.

KEDM Wins Best Newscast In Louisiana & Mississippi

KEDM Public Radio was the winner of 6 awards at the 2018 Associated Press Broadcasters and Media Editors News Excellence Awards. The event honors the best in professional journalism in Mississippi and Louisiana.

90.3 KEDM Public Radio's News Director Cory Crowe received the prestigious Best Newscast award for Louisiana and Mississippi. Contest judges said, "A great example of what radio news should be, the narration is authoritative and nicely paced."

The Monroe Symphony Chorus and University of Louisiana Monroe Concert Choir perform together at 7 on Monday, April 5, 2018. The "Souls and Sounds" concert is a collection of American folk tunes featuring around 85 choir performers.

Director of the Monroe Symphony Chorus and ULM Director of Choral Activities Dr. Deborah Chandler is combining the two groups to perform pieces that neither would be capable of alone. "There are 10 pieces, and it takes more voices because the songs are more substantial," Chandler said.
