On Monday, Jan. 18 ­– Martin Luther King Jr. Day ­– the University of Louisiana Monroe and Louisiana Delta Community College continues the tradition of volunteering together on MLK Day of Service. 


For more than 10 years, ULM and LDCC have partnered to assist a local community agency on MLK Day of Service. 


ULM "Art for All" Showcase

In honor of February as Black History Month, and recognizing the power of creative expression, the University of Louisiana Monroe is hosting the “Art for All” Showcase. 

This art contest is open to current ULM students, faculty, and staff. Artists working in any medium are invited to submit one original piece of artwork inspired by the theme "Diversity, Unity, and Education." 

The two categories are Students, and Faculty and Staff. Awards in each category are $500 for first place, $250 for second place, and $125 for third place.

ULM Graduation Set For Dec. 19

The University of Louisiana Monroe plans to hold commencement ceremonies on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020 in Kitty Degree Hall.

Due to state regulations on the number of people who can be in an event at one time, no guests will be allowed in the ceremonies. Separate ceremonies for each college will be held throughout the day in Kitty Degree Nursing Auditorium. The ceremonies will be livestreamed on ULM's YouTube channel and Facebook page.

Louisiana Tech

For the second straight week, Louisiana Tech had its upcoming football game postponed on Thursday. Last week it was a COVID issue with the North Texas football team. This time the Bulldogs had to postpone Saturday’s home game against Rice, because of injuries, COVID positive cases, and contact tracing led to one position group that is too thin to field a team.

An agreement between the University of Louisiana Monroe and the Federal Aviation Administration commits the university to develop students skilled enough in drone technology to be ready for the workforce upon graduation. 

ULM is one of fewer than 100 two- and four-year institutions to join the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Collegiate Training Initiative, a collaborative effort begun earlier this year by the FAA. ULM officials signed an official memorandum of agreement in October. 

The University of Louisiana Monroe community mourns the loss of Michael Woodgate, the ULM water ski team head coach.  

Originally from Boroughbridge, England, Woodgate was named head coach of the champion Warhawk water ski team in May 2019. 

Prior to being named head coach, he served as a graduate assistant for the team and kinesiology department. Woodgate earned his M.S. in Exercise Science in May 2020.  

ULM extends sympathies to his family, friends, and team as they cope with this unexpected loss.


The University of Louisiana Monroe School of Construction Management received one of its most generous donations to date from the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors and Contractor’s Educational Trust Fund with a check for $250,000 presented to the ULM Foundation on Sept. 24. 


Since 2014, LSLBC/CETF has contributed more than $750,000 for program development, facilities, and equipment to the SCM. With this gift, the amount exceeds $1 million.

The Delta Regional Authority (DRA), in partnership with the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) and the U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) Employment and Training Administration (ETA), today announced a $14,587,500 investment into 13 organizations throughout the Mississippi River Delta and Alabama Black Belt to expand the impact of workforce development efforts in a second round of grant funding through the Workforce Opportunity for Rural Communities (WORC) initiative.

The University of Louisiana Monroe Gerontology Program is offering a four-part national educational webinar series on Alzheimer's disease, in collaboration with and sponsored by the Louisiana Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.   


The webinars will be available to audiences in Louisiana and other states.

Dr. Ronald Berry has been named the 9th President of the University of Louisiana at Monroe. The full Board of Supervisors for the University of Louisiana System selected Berry with a 9-3-3 vote.

Dr. Berry is the Dean of the College of Business and Social Sciences at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. 

The selection was postponed a week because of Hurricane Laura.
