Discover Monroe-West Monroe awarded the Twin City Marathon proceeds to City of Monroe Police Department, City of West Monroe Police Department, and Team Willpower at a press conference on Dec. 16.

The 2020 Twin City Marathon resulted in a total donation of $10,000 split between the three organizations.

“We are happy to manage an event that showcases both Monroe and West Monroe to out of town visitors and in return allows us to give back the community that supports the event,” Amy Keifenheim, Discover Monroe-West Monroe Sales & Event Developer said.

The Krewe of Janus (KOJ) is hosting its 37th annual Mardi Gras Parade this Saturday, February 15, at 6:00 p.m. The parade will begin on Antique Alley's Natchitoches Street in downtown West Monroe and will work its way through the Twin Cities to end at Oliver Road. This year's theme is 'The Magic of Fairytales'.

Earlier in the day, there will also be a chance to see two other parades sponsored by the Krewe. The Children's Parade will start at 10 a.m. in the Pecanland Mall parking lot, and the PAWs Pet Parade kicks off in downtown West Monroe at 1 p.m.

The next installment of the Downtown Gallery Crawl, April 5 from 6-9 p.m., continues to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Crawl. Resident guest artists are on hand to talk with patrons about their art at this free event.

The Downtown Gallery Crawl is an opportunity to check out what local artists of all media are creating. The Downtown Arts Alliance is pulling together nine shows in galleries across the Twin Cities, with live music, food, and drink around every corner. The Crawl is entirely free to any patrons interested in what regional artists have to offer.
