"The Sound of Murder" is a play that highlights the golden age of radio and the future rise of television. Set in the 1940's, the story revolves around the radio station, WMDR, and their efforts to keep their program running. If their newest show does not go well, the station will run out of business. 

The Strauss Theatre Center presents Ken Ludwig's Baskerville: A Sherlock Homes Mystery. Based on Arthur Conan Doyle's The Hound of the Baskervilles, Ludwig turns the fast-paced thriller into a snappy-comic mystery with five actors performing over 40 roles.

Strauss Theatre Center is bringing "Young Frankenstein," which was adapted from film to musical by creator Mel Brooks, to life September 13, 14, 15, 16, 21 and 22. The musical opens the 87th season at Strauss.

Strauss Little Theatre of Monroe is presenting "Sister Act: The Musical" April 19-28. The musical is about self-discovery and finding community in unlikely places.

"Sister Act: The Musical" tells the story of aspiring singer Deloris Van Cartier and how her life changes after she witnesses her crime-boss boyfriend Curtis murder one of his associates. Van Cartier runs to the police, who place her in hiding at a convent. Although at first she feels lost, she finds her place in the convent choir leading worship.

Strauss Theatre presents "Smoke on the Mountain," a story about a gospel singing family traveling to a North Carolina church, February 15-24.

A Radio Show on 34th Street

The Strauss Theatre Center is ringing in the holiday season with its twist on the classic Christmas story, Miracle on 34th Street. This musical will open Friday, December 8, and will run through December 15. Showtimes will be at 7 p.m. on the 8th, 12th, 14th, and 15th, and there will be a 2 p.m. matinee on the 10th.
