The investigation into a homicide by Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Investigators has led to the arrest of Dylan Stephenson, age 26.

Deputies responded to a shooting reported at 8:45 p.m. Feb. 27, 2020 in the 2500 block of Winnsboro Road.  The victim, Cydni Stephenson, was found at the scene with what appeared to be gunshot wounds.  She was transported to a local hospital where she later died.

Stephenson has been booked into OCC on the charge of one count of Second Degree Murder.

A postal worker in rural Mississippi is in critical condition after being shot while delivering mail. News outlets report the man accused of shooting the worker Thursday was shot by law enforcement.

The Attala County sheriff says the man initially tried to kidnap a woman at a grocery store near Kosciusko. That woman got away. The postal worker was shot along Mississippi Highway 35. Both the man and the postal worker were taken to a hospital in Jackson for treatment. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is looking into the officer-involved shooting.

A Louisiana man accused of killing three people at random in suburban New Orleans has pleaded not guilty.

Court records show Sean Barrette maintains his innocence after being accused of killing three people during a shooting spree in Metairie during several days in June.

News outlets report the 22-year-old was denied bond Tuesday and is being held in the Jefferson Parish Prison.

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. (AP) — Authorities say a gunman fatally shot two people and wounded a police officer before he was shot and arrested Tuesday at a Walmart in northern Mississippi.

The gunman was shot by a Southaven Police officer and was hospitalized in unknown condition, DeSoto County Sheriff Bill Rasco told WATN-TV.

WREG-TV reports both of the people who died Tuesday morning were Walmart employees. WHBQ-TV reports one person was found dead in the store and another found dead in the parking lot.

A teen has been killed, while a Grambling State University football player and third unnamed person have been injured in a shooting at a suburban New Orleans playground.

Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office Capt. Jason Rivarde tells the News Star of Monroe that deputies found 19-year-old Keyon Clark dead Wednesday night when they arrived at Frank Lemon Playground in Metairie.


Two Calhoun teens have been arrested in connection to the shooting death of Kiara Elee of Eros.  The shooting happened Wednesday morning on Brownlee Road in Eros. 


The Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office says Christopher D. Florez, age 18 of Calhoun, has been charged with one count of 2nd Degree Murder and one count of Felony Obstruction of Justice. Gavin Bernard Karty, age 18 of Calhoun, has been charged with one count of Obstruction of Justice.


Ouachita Parish Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a shooting at a residence in the 200 block of Curve Drive in Monroe at approx. 4:13 p.m. Monday afternoon.  OPSO deputies found one victim suffering from a gunshot would upon when they arrived at the scene. The gunshot victim was transported to a local  hospital for treatment.


The sheriff's office says their investigation is continuing into the circumstances of the shooting.  The identity of the victim is not being released at this time and no arrests have been made by law enforcement authorities. 

Authorities are investigating the death of an Arkansas man who was fatally shot by a deputy near a Mississippi Delta casino. Washington County Deputy Coroner Charles Bell says 31-year-old Joshua Worth of Junction City, Arkansas, died around 2 a.m. Tuesday at Harlow's Casino in Greenville.

Mississippi Bureau of Investigation spokesman Capt. Johnny Poulos says Worth was shot by a Washington County sheriff's deputy. It's unclear what sparked the shooting.

A uniformed Louisiana police officer has been fatally shot as she was preparing to go to work on the night shift.

A police spokesman in Shreveport says it happened shortly before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday outside a home.

Cpl. Marcus Hines says one person has been detained for questioning but has not been charged with a crime.

Louisiana State Police say a city police officer was shot at a motel while checking a disturbance complaint, and two suspects were wounded. A news release says the shooting occurred about 2:20 a.m. at a Super 8 Motel in Monroe. It says that "shots were fired resulting in one officer and two subjects being shot." It says a Monroe Police Department officer and men identified as 26-year-old Jonathan Guillory and 25-year-old Lewis Craft, were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
