Jenny Burnham / Masur Museum of the Arts

Masur Museum of Art is inspiring young artists to create and build their skills. The museum is hosting one-day art camps in June and July for ages 5-12.

"Adventures in Art" is a camp for ages 5-8 which teaches drawing and design skills. Artist Jenny Burnham is leading the camp and guiding campers as they use sculpture, painting, and printmaking to create works of art to take home at the end of the day. The camp is June 4.

The next installment of the Downtown Gallery Crawl, April 5 from 6-9 p.m., continues to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Crawl. Resident guest artists are on hand to talk with patrons about their art at this free event.

The Downtown Gallery Crawl is an opportunity to check out what local artists of all media are creating. The Downtown Arts Alliance is pulling together nine shows in galleries across the Twin Cities, with live music, food, and drink around every corner. The Crawl is entirely free to any patrons interested in what regional artists have to offer.

Art helps bring the world into focus. The Masur Museum helps with that quest with the 53rd Annual Juried Competition, on exhibit from March 9th through July 5th. The museum hosts a reception on Saturday, March 12th.

“The very first exhibit at the Masur Museum was a juried competition, and so once a year we kind of think about our own history as we put a call out to artist all over the country – asking them to submit their work to evaluated and judged by a juror,” says Curator of Collections at the Masur Ben Hickey.
