Elisha Ministries is hosting Understanding The Dynamics of Poverty this Wednesday, Oct. 16, from 8 am - 4 pm. The event will be held at the Ruston Civic Center in the Peach Suite on 401 Trenton St, Ruston.

The program being sponsored that day is a research-based poverty training to assist direct providers to understand and identify effective stratagies to support, encourage, and empower those affected to break the poverty cycle. The entrace fee is free to all that attend.

Income inequality – what is it really? And is it a problem?

Well, it depends on whom you ask.

Representing the “Yes, it’s a problem” camp is Christine Lagarde, a French politician who serves as the managing director of the International Monetary Fund. The IMF is a global lending organization (formed by 188 countries) that is best known for stepping in when troubled nations are having difficulty paying their bills. They offer loans for troubled economies, but also usually require strict budget cuts.

Intake Site Sought For Area Homeless

The plight of the homeless is an issue where some local organizations want to make a difference in the new year.  Continuum of Care Coalition's Sarah Johnson says she's hopeful of developing a centralized intake site in Monroe.
