Alex Issac, age 21, was last seen in the Town & Country area of Monroe on April 26, 2021. He is described as a Black male, 6’ tall and 150 lbs. Anyone with any information as to the whereabouts of Alex Issac is asked to contact the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office at 318-329-1200.

Internet Safety Classes For Local Parents

The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office will host two classes in February 2021 for interested parents to increase their awareness of the potential dangers children can be exposed to on the Internet.

There will be two classes offered from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on February 16 and 18 at the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office Training Academy at the Ouachita Parish Rifle Range in West Monroe. The registration deadline is February 10.

West Monroe Man Sentenced For Stealing Firearms

Ashton A’qumartez Thomas, 21, of West Monroe, Louisiana, was sentenced today. Thomas was sentenced to 30 months in prison followed by 3 years of supervised release for possession of stolen firearms. He was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $14,306.89.

OPSO is investigating a shooting in the 100 block of Lilac St. in West Monroe.  Incident was reported at 9:06 p.m. Wednesday night. 

 

Two victims were wounded and transported to hospital for treatment. Identities of the victims have not been released.

Sheriff Jay Russell was sworn in by Judge Sharon Marchman on Wednesday, June 14, 2020 to begin his third term as Ouachita Parish Sheriff.

Sheriff Russell issued the following statement:

Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Investigators are currently searching for a juvenile reported as a runaway.

Gage Cameron Jeselink, age 17, was last seen at his home in Swartz on May 29, 2020.

He is described as a White male, 5’-8” tall and weighing 150 lbs.  A current clothing description is not available.  Gage may still be in the Swartz area of Ouachita Parish.

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Gage Jeselink is asked to contact the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office at 318-329-1200.

Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Investigators are currently investigating the recent fraudulent use of a stolen debit card at a grocery store on LA 139 in Swartz and a convenience store on U. S. Hwy. 80 in Monroe.

 

The suspect is shown in the surveillance camera photos and may be traveling in a white smaller SUV, possibly a Ford Escape.

 

Anyone with any information as to the identity of the suspect in the photos is asked to contact the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office at 318-329-1200.

Arrests Made In Frenchman's Bend Thefts

The investigation into vehicle burglaries and a vehicle theft in Frenchman’s Bend reported to the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office on May 5, 2020 has resulted in the arrest of two juvenile suspects.

The suspects took cash, along with several other items and also stole a vehicle.

OPSO Investigating West Monroe Homicide

Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Investigators are currently investigating a homicide that occurred in the 100 block of Courtney Street in West Monroe Friday morning.

Deputies responded to a report of a stabbing at approximately 4:30 a.m. at the location and found the victim deceased.

A warrant has been issued for the suspect, Jesus Antonio Oliva Mejia, charging him with one count of Second Degree Murder.

Mejia is described as a Hispanic male, age 32. He was last seen wearing dark blue shorts. No other description is available at this time.
