In response to customer feedback and requests for the service, Louisiana State Parks will offer full campsite hookups at Chemin-A-Haut State Park near Bastrop. The improved campsites will include water, electricity, and sewer utilities to make guests’ visits more convenient as they can bypass stopping on-site to unload waste. The new configuration will be available beginning Friday, October 11; the campsites will rent for $33/night plus tax, Friday-Saturday, $30/night plus tax, Sunday-Thursday, April-September, and $25/night plus tax, Sunday-Thursday, October-March.

The Louisiana Main Street Program was one of nine projects nationwide to receive grant funding through the Historic Revitalization Subgrant Program (HRSP). The National Park Service, which oversees the HRSP grants, awarded Louisiana Main Street $662,000 for the rehabilitation and revitalization of commercial buildings around the state. Through the HRSP, a total of $4.8 million was awarded to the nine projects around the country.

The Louisiana Office of Cultural Development, in concert with Baton Rouge Music Studios, and the National Endowment for the Arts, announces two newly-scheduled workshops designed to provide veterans with the opportunity to learn the craft of songwriting. The Songs of Survivors workshops will be led by professional educators, songwriters, and touring musicians. The first two workshops, held in Baton Rouge and Lake Charles, helped veterans tell their stories through music.

The Louisiana Book Festival is excited to announce the instructors for the 2019 WordShops – half-day writing workshops on a variety of topics to take place at the State Library of Louisiana in Baton Rouge on Friday, November 1. The courses are designed for people writing fiction or nonfiction, and are appropriate for writers of all levels of experience.

New Logo for Louisiana Seafood

High school students from across the state will be designing the new Louisiana Seafood logo.  The Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board has partnered with the Louisiana Department of Education to let students design the new logo.  Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser says it’s a good way for students to use the creative skills they have learned…

Nungesser says he’s been urged by the public to spice up the logo to make people really want the seafood from this area…
