 Four people, including a 16-year-old, have been indicted on charges arising from the killing of a New Orleans teenage girl and the wounding of four others in March.

District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro's office announced the charges Thursday.

Seventeen-year-old Tyneisha Muse was fatally shot in New Orleans' St. Claude neighborhood March 29. Charged with conspiracy to commit second-degree murder in her death are 20-year-old Joshua Augillard, 18-year-old Reginald Blanton and 19-year-old Corey Harris.

 A California veterinarian has pleaded guilty for his part in what federal prosecutors say was a plan to illegally export exotic birds from New Orleans to Taiwan.

Federal court documents show that Alex Madriaga of Buena Park pleaded guilty Wednesday to a single count. He was one of four indicted last year and the second to plead guilty. Prosecutors said the plan involved shipping birds protected under an international treaty governing trade in endangered species.

Five former corrections officers at the Richwood Correctional Center have been indicted for their roles in a conspiracy to physically assault five inmates. They are also being indicted for their roles in covering up their actions.

Roderick Douglas, Christopher Loring, Demario Shaffer, Quintail Credit, and David Parker, were charged in a seven-count indictment by a federal grand jury in Monroe, Louisiana, on March 29, 2018.  The indictment was unsealed and made public Thursday upon initial court appearances of the defendants.

Ten people were arrested in the alleged hazing death of LSU student Maxwell Gruver, but only four of the young men were indicted by an East Baton Rouge grand jury. At the time of the arrests, Matthew Naquin was the only one charged with negligent homicide, and the grand jury found enough evidence to indict him on that charge. Loyola University Law Professor Dane Ciolino.

 

Ciolino says, "It's going to go to trial, likely a jury trial in district court... It's one that will likely go on for several months."
