Lieutenant Billy Nungesser and Louisiana State Parks invites you to the inaugural Roller Coaster of Love Mountain Bike Festival at Bogue Chitto State Park this weekend, October 2-3, 2021. Hosted by the Northshore Off-Road Biking Association, the Roller Coaster of Love Mountain Bike Festival will include events for mountain bikers of all ages from a Funduro race, mountain bike riding instruction, and the Mega Zeph Mega Jam, mountain bike jump party featuring plenty of jumps and aerial stunts.



In 1962 a black pianist hired a white chauffer and took off to play music in the South. The film Green Book explores life during Jim Crow and offers a look at the times.

The Negro Motorist Green Book began publication in 1936. It detailed safe places for black motorist to stay and eat while travelling.  Black pianist Don Shirley gave a copy to his white chauffer Frank 'Tony Lip' Vallelonga before they set out on the eight week musical tour. 

Chennault Aviation & Military Museum will be holding the 2021  Run For The Red, White & Blue 5K & 1K Run/Walk this weekend.  The event will take place at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 29, 2021, at the Museum, 701 Kansas Lane, Monroe.

The City of West Monroe and West Monroe Police Department will host the Second Annual Bicycle Safety Expo on Thursday, May 20. This free event will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the parking lot of City Hall, located at 2305 N. 7 th Street in West Monroe.

The Bicycle Safety Expo will be held in celebration of National Bike Month, which is recognized throughout the month of May. During the event, members of the West Monroe Police Department Bicycle Patrol will do helmet checks, offer safe riding tips and lead children through several bicycle obstacle courses.

Michael Parker's laugh-riot involves two men trying to fool their new female boss into thinking that their wives are indeed with them on what they had intended to be a totally innocent weekend of golfing. Impersonation seems to work for a short time, but everything falls apart as the wives, who have been shopping in New York, show up.

Mask will be required while in the building. Social Distancing is required as well.

Delta Wellness Mission 2021 Targets Lake Providence

The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and Delta Regional Authority (DRA) will hold a medical mission in Lake Providence, LA from July 8-18, 2021.  Through a partnership with DoD and the U.S Military’s reserve forces, DRA supports the Innovative Readiness Training (IRT) program to bring medical, dental, and optical care to Delta residents in need of quality healthcare at no cost to the patients. 

The North Central Louisiana Arts Council presents the 5th film in their Independent Film Series, 16 Bars on February 24th at 7pm online.

The University of Louisiana Monroe hosted a University Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Forum from 6-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2020, at Fant-Ewing Coliseum.<

The university invited students, faculty, staff, and the public to attend and share ideas on how to accelerate diversity and inclusion at the university.

First United Methodist Church in Monroe is hosting an educational event about the Gardens of Somerset retirement community being built in Sterlington.

The event will be held at First United Methodist Church in Monroe on March 10 at 1:30 p.m.

The Gardens of Somerset is a P. Allen Smith Senior Adult retirement community. Smith is a television host, garden designer and lifestyle expert. 

Director of 50+ Adult Ministries Nannette Flowers said the event is to inform the public about the new retirement community and the services that will be available to its residents.

With voting complete in Mississippi and Kentucky, President Donald Trump is turning attention to the last gubernatorial contest of the year, bidding to drive out Louisiana's Democratic governor in a display of political influence ahead of the 2020 elections.

The president is to travel Wednesday to the northeastern Louisiana city of Monroe hoping to muster votes for Republican businessman Eddie Rispone and keep Democrat John Bel Edwards from a second term in a crimson state Trump won by 20 percentage points. Early voting ends Saturday in the Nov. 16 election.
