"Doug Duffey and BADD" are hosting a release party for their latest album, "Funkify Ya-Self," Saturday, August 18, at 9 p.m. at Enoch's Irish Pub and Cafe. The 8-track CD features fresh funk tunes from the four-piece band.

The Downtown River Jam series is hosting a free Mardi Gras Block Party featuring live music, drink samples and food Saturday, February 3 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The Mardi Gras Block Party is taking place at the corner of North 4th and Pine Street in Downtown Monroe. Jordan Sheppard kicks of live music on the Skent-N-Dent Stage, with the Stooges Brass Band headlining the evening festivities. There will be beer samples from Choice Brands, and Doe's Eat Place will have New Orleans style cuisine available for purchase.

Spreading Louisiana’s own breed of funk and soul around the world, the Louisiana Soul Revival Featuring Doug Duffey holds a CD release party for its self-titled debut album on Saturday, February 20 at 9 p.m. at Live Oaks Bar & Ballroom in Monroe.

“Everything we play is either written by Doug Duffey or by some other Louisiana artist,” explains Dan Sumner, guitarist with the band and assistant professor of music at the University of Louisiana Monroe.

Northeast Louisiana is home to one of the freshest bands to come together in years. It's called Louisiana Soul Revival, featuring Doug Duffey and ten other musicians. Their mission is to bring the Soul, Blues and Funk music of Louisiana to the world.

The band debuted with a five-song, in-studio video recording in front of a live audience. The resulting video album was released track-by-track over the following three days and generated more than 16,000 views and 500 shares in the first 36 hours.
