The Louisiana Department of Health has updated its website to reflect the latest number of COVID-19 positives and will continue to update its website at noon each day.

Click here for intormation on where to receive COVID-19 vaccines in Louisiana. The Louisiana COVID-19 Vaccincation Hotline is 1-855-453-0774 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Callers can find vaccination sites near them and schedule a vaccination.

Friday, The University of Louisiana Monroe Art Program will begin to auction off medical masterpieces. Students in the program started with a blank canvas, medical masks donated by an art alumnus. The students used dyes and paints to transform the masks into wearable masterpieces.

 "Mask Up - A Wearable Masterpiece" will be an online opportunity to support ULM's Art Society, the Delta Alpha Chapter of Kappa Pi. 25 art students created two masks each.

Senator Bill Cassidy is pushing for a 500 billion dollar relief package in Congress aimed at aiding local and state governments who are facing coronavirus related fiscal cliffs.

Lafayette is expecting to lose 35 percent of its expected revenue for the year, and Monroe and New Orleans are facing one million and 150 million dollar deficits respectively. 

The City of Crowley is expecting a 1.3-1.6 million dollar shortfall and announced the layoffs of 15 employees and reduction of hours for remaining city employees via a four-day workweek.

The Louisiana Department of Health has extended its Emergency Order to align with the Governor’s Executive Order that has been extended to April 30. The LDH extension applies to all previously issued LDH Notices and Orders and shall remain in effect until 11:59 p.m. on April 30, 2020, but may be further extended by subsequent order of the State Health Officer. Click here to see the order.

The federal Bureau of Prisons is locking inmates in their cells at all its facilities for 14 days in order to stop the spread of the coronavirus. The implementation of a new plan Wednesday comes as a focus shifts to a federal prison complex in Louisiana, where two inmates have died and nearly 20 others are hospitalized.
