A body found in southwest Louisiana last week has been identified and a murder warrant has been issued in connection with his death.

KPLC-TV reports the body of 29-year-old Zaccheus H. Burton, of Baton Rouge, was found July 17 at the end of a dead-end road near DeQuincy.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Tony Mancuso says Burton's body was severely burned and was identified using DNA.

A Louisiana teacher is accused of raping a 10-year-old boy.

The American Press reports Lake Charles Charter Academy teacher Deidra R. Smith was arrested Tuesday and charged with first-degree rape and indecent behavior with a juvenile.

Academy President Gene Thibodeaux says the boy reported the off-campus abuse to a teacher and authorities were notified.

The connection between the boy and teacher is unclear, as is why they were together away from the school.

Three Louisiana boys helped save their mother after their father threatened to shoot her, authorities said Monday.

Authorities from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office said the boys - ages 10, 12, and 14 - came to their mother's rescue after their father threatened her with a gun at their home in Moss Bluff. The couple wrestled to the ground, the man dropped the gun, and one of the boys picked it up and emptied it of ammunition. A second son then got another gun and used it to order their father off of their mother, authorities said.
