 A former school official in Louisiana has been charged with criminal offenses involving mail-order prescription drugs.

KTBS-TV reports that a federal bill of information charges former Bossier Parish Schools Superintendent Scott Smith with four misdemeanor counts of simple possession of a controlled substance. KTBS says the drugs involved were sleep and anxiety medications.

A Louisiana sheriff says more allegations have surfaced against a Benton elementary school teacher accused of child rape and video voyeurism of children.

Bossier Parish Sheriff Julian Whittington announced the additional allegations Tuesday night against Benton Elementary School physical education teacher Aubrey "Perry" Norcross.

Norcross was arrested last week and charged with child rape on the school's campus and video voyeurism. The charges involve different children.

SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) — A northwest Louisiana school board member, a fourth-grade teacher and the teacher's husband face federal steroids charges.

Bossier Parish school board member Michael Mosura was indicted in September along with Caddo Parish teacher Julie Landry and Brant Landry.

The indictment, unsealed last week, alleges the three conspired to sell illegal performance-enhancing drugs at gyms.

The Bossier Parish horse farm handyman accused of trying to kill his boss by planting a homemade bomb under the intended victim's bed is scheduled to go on trial Monday.

KTBS-TV reports 56-year-old Douglas Holley is accused of detonating a pipe bomb underneath the bedroom floor of veterinarian Bobby Hewlett's home outside Benton on Dec. 19, 2015.

Monroe resident, Amethyst Baird, is looking at a variety of charges after allegedly shooting a Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Agent multiple times earlier this year.

Baird has a history of drug use and has already pled guilty to possession of stolen items and possession of meth. She was sentenced to 10 years in prison. 

Baird was also charged with attempted first degree murder after she allegedly shot Wildlife Agent Tyler Wheeler multiple times.

A family of Bossier Parish educators dedicated a modern architecture library Thursday set on a bucolic rural road in Elm Grove, La. The $1.9 million Anna P. Tooke Memorial Library is the seventh in the Bossier Parish Library System. The 3,600 square-foot library boasts floor-to-ceiling windows and is nestled in a grove of trees on three acres of farmland.

It’s a stark contrast to the metal shack that served the community for decades, according to Bossier Parish Police Jury president Jack “Bump” Skaggs.
