Masur's pARTy 318: A Mix of Food, Music, And Art

The Masur Museum opens it doors and grounds for it's third pARTy 318 event Thursday.  

Masur Museum Executive Director Evelyn Stewart says it has grown into a fun, casual after work event.  "We started with a focus on having young professionals in the area get to know Masur.  The party has helped grow more interest in the programs and other sessions hosted by the museum throughout the year,"

Student Artwork To Brighten Seawall

Over 200 works of art from area students are set to be reproduced on a mile-long stretch of the Trenton Street Seawall in West Monroe.  

The concept was pulled together by University of Louisiana at Monroe art instructor Brooke Foy.  "I had grown up in West Monroe and was familiar with the wall.  I moved back a couple years ago, to a neighborhood near the seawall, and began looking at this project as a possibility," she said.

Marlen Waters’ exhibition “Live, Love, Laugh, Letter, and Paint” is an exploration of color, spirit, paint and self-discovery using watermedia on paper and canvas.

Waters is the featured artist for the Ouachita River Art Gallery for April.

Former Executive Director of the Dixie Center for the Arts in Ruston, Waters has studied privately with renowned artists including M. Douglas Walton, Denys Taipale, and Anne Bergeron.

Holiday Arts Light Up Ruston

  The North Central Louisiana Arts Council's 17th Annual Holiday Arts Tour is this weekend.  In addition to 35 locations participating in the event, live music is heard throughout downtown Ruston.  Special attractions this weekend include poetry readings, Sprout Sunday, and the Community Variety Show.
