This year will mark the 20th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States. The University of Louisiana Monroe will host two events that will look at the situation leading up to the attack and how it shaped policy over the next twenty years.  

'Twenty Years Later September 11' will feature two speakers and two sessions. Dr. Yusaku Yajima will present 'Beyond the Rhetoric of Fear: Othering, Belonging, and Empowerment' on September 7 at 7:00 p.m. in room 3-D of the ULM Library.

Monroe Mayor Friday Ellis, members of the Monroe City Council, Fire Chief Terry Williams, and Interim Police Chief Eugene Ellis announce the 18th Annual 9/11 Ceremony.

Please join us as we honor the lives of those who perished on September 11, 2001. Guest Speaker will be Senior Trooper Andy Stephenson (Louisiana State Police).

The ceremony will take place at the City of Monroe Public Safety Center located at 1810 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and will begin at 8:46 a.m. (Friday, September 11, 2020) The public is invited to attend.

Medical emergencies can easily create panic for individuals and families.  However, knowing what to do may help a person take appropriate action in a timely manner.  Specifically, older adults who live alone need to make a safety plan to deal with medical emergencies so that they can receive help as soon as possible.


Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Investigators are currently investigating the death of a 3 month old infant.  Deputies responded to the Ouachita Fire Dept. Station on Blankston Road at approx. 11:30 pm.  Wednesday evening.
