Walk a Mile in Her Shoes to raise awareness about sexual assault and domestic violence is Wednesday, April 10 at the University of Louisiana Monroe. Registration begins at 3:30 p.m. in the quad with the walk at 4 p.m.

The University of Louisiana Monroe FemHawks and the Sexual Assault Response Team of Ouachita Parish will sponsor the annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes on Wednesday, April 10. The 1-mile walk’s purpose is to bring awareness to sexual assault and domestic violence while creating gender solidarity.

Registration is at 3:30 p.m. in the quad and the walk starts at 4 p.m.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is an international men’s march to advocate against sexual violence. Men and women walk together to show support for these causes. Any shoes are allowed; however, heels are preferred.

In past years, the event has featured participants wearing a pair of heels and a feather boa while walking across Bayou Bridge and back to Bayou Park. Testimonies from survivors and supporters are shared at the Walk’s conclusion. Music is also provided. “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” is free to all.
