The Division of Continuing Education for the University of Louisiana at Monroe is a learning organization that provides quality programs to individuals looking to enhance their professional careers or simply explore a new subject. Classes this year will be offered starting in early February and last until May.
Ida Wilson, the program's coordinator for non-credit programs, is in charge of selecting which courses are being offered each year. She says, "The cool stuff, that's what we do."
Some examples of fun classes this semester include photography, watercolor painting, and floral design. According to Wilson, anyone can take these courses, "If someone from the community sees something that they like and they think that they may enjoy, they can enroll in that class."
The program also offers more technical, career-oriented classes. Individuals can work towards their notary public certification, skin and wound management certification, and phlebotomy technician certification. Even dental assistants can receive further training in their field through the program's online classes and on-site clinicals.
