ULM Pharmacy School Hosts Medicare Enrollment Event

ULM

The University of Louisiana at Monroe College of Pharmacy will host an event for helping seniors with Medicare enrollment questions on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 from 1 to 5 p.m.

Medicare Part D is the prescription drug benefit for people on Medicare

The annual enrollment period for Medicare prescription drug plans is October 15 through December 7 every year. Although a person’s medications may not change, the plans change every year.

Each prescription drug plan varies in cost, drugs covered, and pharmacy acceptance.  In order to get the best coverage at the lowest possible price, Medicare beneficiaries are recommended to re-evaluate their Part D plans each year to ensure that the plan that meets their unique needs for the upcoming year.  All changes will take effect on January 1, 2019.

For help evaluating Medicare drug plan options for next year, those interested can pick up a registration form at the reception desk at the Ouachita Council on Aging, 2407 Ferrand Street in Monroe.  When the completed form is received, the OCOG will schedule an appointment to attend the College of Pharmacy’s enrollment event on November 7.

Students and faculty will meet with seniors one-on-one to discuss Medicare drug plan options for 2019.
