ULM Photo Services
The Pursuit takes its name from the "P" in the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk fighter plane.

University of Louisiana Monroe Athletics Department is hosting "The Pursuit" Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at 6 p.m. in Bayou Pointe Event Center. The event is a kick-off for the academic and athletic school year at ULM, featuring an address by President Nick Bruno and special guests Tim Brando and Alton Clay.

President Nick Bruno is giving a "State of the Union Address" looking at what happened in the past year and how ULM is moving forward in the new school year. The upcoming athletic year is also being discussed by ULM Head Football Coach Matt Viator and special guest Tim Brando, a sportscaster with Fox Sports. Recent ULM graduate Alton Clay is speaking and sharing his musical talent. Clay was ranked second in the nation for the track and field sport shot put.

ULM Athletics is also hosting Warhawk Women's Football 101 Saturday, August 11 at 4 p.m. in the Bayou Pointe Event Center. The event is an opportunity for women to learn more game field information about football as well as get some hands-on experience. After learning the basics, ladies get to practice throwing, catching, and tackling drills with Offensive Coordinator Matt Kubik and Defensive Coordinator Mike Collins. Warhawk Women is a subset of the Warhawk Club started by women on campus to reach a new demographic.

As part of a new initiative to reach out further into the community, 50 football players are visiting West Monroe August 18 at 3 p.m. for "Warhawk Rally at Antique Alley." Players are meeting at Miss Kay's Sweets & Eats and are signing autographs.
