Ouachita Green Collects NELA's Recyclables On America Recycles Day

Ouachita Green in conjunction with Keep West Monroe Beautiful, Keep Monroe Beautiful, and Keep Ouachita Parish Beautiful will be hosting the annual America Recycles Day collection event in Monroe. This year's event will be Nov. 9 at the Monroe Civic Center North Parking Lot from 9:00 a.m. - 1 p.m.

They will be collecting paper, plastic, metal, electronics, tires, cans, old furniture, and more. The full list can be found on Ouachita Green's Facebook page. 

Ouachita Green is a local non-profit organization dedicated to creating a sustainable community in NELA. One of the group's biggest events is America Recycles Day, which they have hosted for several years now. America Recycles Day is a nationwide initiative that asks citizens across the country to consider the benefits of recycling in their community and the world. 

Stuart Hodnett, the director of Ouachita Green, has recently seen a problem with plastic bottles in our area. He says, "We see these bottles in our waterways here, and they float all the way down to our ocean. We want to continue to be good stewards of the planet and not contribute to that problem." On
