An Old Melody Falls on New Ears

Dixiecenter.org
Stephanie and Paolo are currently on there United States tour.

The Dixie Center in Ruston will be holding the concert, Piano Virtuosos, with Stephanie Trick and her husband Paolo Alderighi this Thursday, October 27th at 7 P.M.

Stephanie and Paolo perform stride, a style of jazz piano playing in which the right hand plays the melody while the left hand plays a single bass note or octave on the strong beat and a chord on the weak beat. This unique style of music originated in the 1920's, and is often not played anymore. Stride allows a single artist or pair of artists to create the sounds of a whole orchestra.

Stephanie and Paolo have been touring the world with their music. Lawrence Gibbs, a board member at the Dixie Center, says that he luckily found the duo, " quite by chance... simply looking for a video."

This concert will be $25 for adults and $10 for students. Tickets can be purchased online or at the Dixie Center on the night of the event.

More information on the Dixie Center can be found here.
