A suspicious package in the French Quarter was determined not to be a bomb.

Portions of the French Quarter were shut down Friday morning as New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) investigated two separate incidents, including the threat of a bomb on the ground outside Molly’s at the Market.

A little after noon, an NOPD spokesperson announced that no explosives were found by the bomb unit. Traffic has returned to normal.

In a separate incident, police have barricaded a man in a building in the 500 block of Dauphine Street. Police are asking the public to avoid the area.

Ferguson said NOPD was alerted Friday morning from a person who entered a building and found an intruder there. The intruder was armed. The person left the scene and reported the incident to the police.

Officers are trying to communicate with the intruder and get him to drop his weapon and leave.

Police do not believe the incidents are related.
