Mystery and Murder in "Clue -- the Musical" at Strauss

Was it Colonel Mustard in the Library with the wrench? Or Miss Scarlet in the Conservatory with the candlestick?  Clue – The Musical brings the mystery and suspense of the classic board game to the Strauss Theater Center.

Cast members Moira O’Connor, who plays Miss Scarlet,  and Theresa Ellerbe, who plays Mrs. Peacock, spoke about the difficulty of bringing a board game like “Clue” to the live stage.

"I think of Mrs. Peacock as a black widow. She's had five husbands and is now on her sixth. She's powerful, she's witty, she's risque. She's really fun to play," says Ellerbe.

O'Connor explains her role, "Miss Scarlett is, well, a bit of a bimbo. She really comes to life when I put on the wig -- blonde, of course!"

Audience members will choose cards to decide the killer, room, and weapon, and then receive clues throughout the play as they try and figure out “Who done it?” The play is modeled after the board game, and therefore has 216 different possible endings.

“Everyone has to learn the different sections of the show, and we won’t know until the night of the show. So we will just have to be prepared,”  says O’Connor.

“It’s really difficult to take a board game and turn it into a play, much less a musical,” says Ellerbe. "Our director, Brandy Gilmore has done a great job taking us through all of the variations."

Performances are February 19th through the 21st, and continue Feburary 26th and 27th. Tickets are available at Strauss Theater Center or by calling 318-323-6681.
