A 33-year-old Louisiana man is accused of setting fire to a motel room.

The Louisiana State Fire Marshal's Office says Morgan Freepon of Mooringsport confessed to investigators that he set the fire Sunday evening at the Budget Inn in Coushatta about 150 miles (250 km) south-southeast of Mooringsport.

Fire marshal's spokeswoman Ashley Rodrigue said in an email that Freepon told investigators he was on meth at the time. She did not know whether he has an attorney who could speak for him.

Rodrigue wrote on the office's Facebook page that Coushatta police had Freepon in custody. He was arrested Monday after the interview with fire investigators.

Rodrigue says nobody was injured.

She says fire damaged one room, and smoke and soot damaged the doors of two others.
