The State Fair of Louisiana opens tomorrow and organizers say you can expect a "Gumbo of Fun" — this year's theme.

The fair runs Thursday through Nov. 10 at the Louisiana State Fairgrounds in Shreveport.

KTBS-TV reports that since 1906, the event has attracted some of the top food vendors in the country. It also includes carnival rides, live music and the crowd-pleasing, Livestock Sale and Auction.

The fair draws an average of 425,000 people through the gates every year and organizers say it has a $24 million economic impact. More than 300 temporary jobs are created during the fair season.

The fair runs from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. On Fridays and Saturdays, the event opens at 10 a.m. and closes at 11 p.m.
