Award winning artist and actress Beyonce Knowles will be giving Grambling State University grant money as part of her Homecoming Scholars Award Program. GSU was one of three Historically Black Universities chosen in the state.

Days after her historic performance as the first black woman to headline at Coachella, the superstar singer announced that that she would be donating $100,000 to four Historically Black Colleges/Universities  through her #BeyGOOD initiative, then Google.org announced they were stepping up to match the artist's donation. This newly-added donation granted four additional HBCU students $25,000 each toward scholarships for the 2018-2019 academic school year, bringing the number of institutions receiving funds through her initiative to eight.

Grambling was one of the schools that will receive some of the $200,000 in scholarship money awarded by Beyonce and Google.

The Homecoming Scholars Award Program for 2018-2019 will expand to all qualifying students at the universities, regardless of gender. The disciplines will include literature, creative arts, African-American studies, science, education, business, communications, social sciences, computer science and engineering.  All applicants must maintain a 3.5 GPA or above. All finalists and winners will be selected by the universities. Winners will be announced this summer.
