Feral Hogs Bring Destruction To Yards, Farms, and Animals

In just a few nights, feral swine can decimate lawns, native habitats and pasturelands. Common feral swine damages include rooting, wallowing, and trampling of sensitive vegetation. Photo by USDA APHIS.

Feral hogs cause $1.5 billion of damage each year in the United States. The wild pigs are running rampant throughout the country, but the biggerst areas of concern are in the South. Early European explorers broght the hogs to the new world. Some were released to have a food supply along lines of retreat along Desoto's exploration route in North America.

Join 90.3 KEDM for Policy and a Pint: A Feral Hog Invasion, Tuesday November 11 at the River Grill in Monroe. Our panelists will be ready to answer your questions. The meet and greet begins at 5:30 p.m. and the open public forum begins at 6 p.m.
