Dr. George Cannon has been hired as the new director of the Monroe Civic Center.
Mayor Jamie Mayo said, “We are excited about the possibilities that lie ahead with a new leader officially in place at the Monroe Civic Center. Dr. Cannon brings more than four decades of professional management experience to the position, having worked for school districts in Louisiana, Arkansas, and Mississippi. He has overseen countless events and managed budgets ranging from several thousand to multi-million dollars. He also has deep roots in Monroe having severed in several volunteer capacities as a leader or past board member of the Monroe Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, and Salvation Army.”
Dr. Cannon will begin his employment on Monday, October 1.
