Child Passenger Safety Week Promotes Secure Future

http://www.nhtsa.gov/

Child Passenger Safety Week is here to remind us that kids are at risk everyday from not buckling up or taking precautionary measure while in a vehicle.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 37.4 percent of children between the ages of four to seven are not being properly restrained when riding in a vehicle.

“When children are not buckled up or are riding in a seat that isn’t used correctly, their safety is in jeopardy,” said NHTSA Administrator Dr. Mark Rosekind.

Many events are going on around the nation to help awareness for kids who aren't being properly buckled into their seats.

"You can act by making sure your kids are buckled up and in the right car seats for their age and size. This week, and on National Seat Check Saturday, free public events will be held across the country," said Dr. Rosekind.

Some parents are unsure of whether or not their child needs a car seat or what kind of car seat their child could use.

The following link provides more information on events being held in your area as well as how to register your car seat and properly install it in your vehicle.
