Chennault Museum Honors Vets with Race For the Red, White, and Blue

Chennault Museum
The Chennault Museum host a %k to honor verterans Memorial Day weekend.

With Memorial Day approaching, our nation takes time to honor those who serve and have served this country. The Chennault Aviation and Military Museum is doing its part by hosting the "Race for the Red, White, and Blue" Saturday May 28.

The races will consist of a 5K and a 1K, with all proceeds going to the museum, which is now privately funded. Races will begin at 8 a.m. at the museum, with registration beginning at 7 a.m. The route will circumvent the airport terminal, then end at the museum.

"It is to remember veterans, yes, and to honor those that are alive as well as those who have paid the ultimate price with their life serving our country," says museum representative David Worthington, "It's also a time for families to come together, and so many families have not seen the museum. It's a great jewel of north Louisiana."

The museum is a natural choice for the race. During World War II over 15,000 navigators were trained within the walls of the building, and many more pilots and soldiers at nearby Selman Field. The museum's namesake General Claire Chennault also led the legendary Flying Tigers on military campaigns throughout the Pacific.

During the race, the trio Southern Grace will perform patriotic music. A color guard will be present, and there will be a massive red, white, and blue balloon release to honor those that have given their lives to serve the country.

Kirby Rambin is a natural entertainer, having played violin since the age of 9 and performing publicly since he was just 12. As a teen, he performed with the Monroe Youth Symphony and the Louisiana All-State Orchestra.
