Cancelled: Monroe March In Support of John Bel Edwards

John Bel Edwards supporters will gather for an event on the same night that Donald Trump will hold a rally at the Monroe Civic Center.

Update: the march has been cancelled.

Supporters of Gov. John Bel Edwards will gather for a march and rally in Monroe on the same night President Donald Trump will appear at the Monroe Civic Center.

Known as the "Monroe March for John Bel Edwards," the event will begin Wednesday, November 6, at 5:15 p.m. with a concert at the downtown River Market.

At 6 p.m. the march will travel down Wood Street to Monroe City Hall. Organizers are calling for a demonstration demanding better education, increased healthcare access, environmental protections, honest representatives, crackdowns on corruption, and an end to tax cuts for the wealthy.

Organizers say that the Monroe March for John Bel Edwards is a community-led organization not affiliated with any political party.

Nearby at the Monroe Civic Center Arena, the Trump campaign will hold a rally beginning at 7 p.m., including Trump's support of gubernatorial candidate Eddie Rispone.
