Biedenharn Fountain Comes to Life

Biedenharn Museum and Gardens
The Living Fountain has performed at Biedenharn twice, and has been frequently requested ever since.

The Biedenharn Museum and Gardens hosts a truly unique event June 17 and 18.

The Living Fountain presentation is a live performance art piece returning to the Biedenharn after nearly seven years. The event is part of the welcome home ceremony for the museum's own ELsong Maiden Fountain which has been under restoration since being damaged in the 2014 tornado.

"It's really a neat program," says Museum Director Ralph Calhoun, "It's beautiful. It's moving; it's the kind of thing you watch and you just get goose bumps."

Utilizing light, music, movement and majestic streams of water, the piece has appeared at Biedenharn twice before, and became an instant favorite of museum patrons. The upcoming performance has been highly requested by the community, says Calhoun.

Calhoun also plans to use the event to offer a sneak peak of the museums new Bible exhibit, which should premiere later this season.

The exhibition follows in the wishes of the museum's namesake and the home's original owner, Emy Lou Biedenharn, who wanted to provide a home for unique cultural events in Monroe.

Performances are at 2, 4, 6, and 8 p.m. both days. For ticket information or to learn more about the living fountain presentation visit the Biedenharn Museum'swebsite.
