2 Children Die in Fire; 4 Adults Burned Trying to Rescue Them

Fire has killed two children and burned four people who tried to rescue them from a mobile home in a New Orleans suburb.

News agencies report that the Plaquemines Parish coroner's office identified the children Monday as 9-year-old Madison Branton and her 7-year-old brother, Jordan Beckham.

The Louisiana state fire marshal's office says their bodies were found in the burned-out mobile home where two dogs also died late Sunday.

Spokeswoman Ashley Rodrigue's news release says the fire apparently started in an unoccupied addition to the mobile home in Belle Chasse, about 10 miles (16 kilometers) southeast of New Orleans. She says it may have been electrical.

She says three adult residents and a firefighter were burned trying to rescue the children.

The adult residents are hospitalized.
