Second attempt to ban transgender athletes in women's sports underway

A Senate committee is scheduled for April 7, for the second attempt to ban athletes who are biologically male from participating in women's sports. The bill is known as The Fairness in Women's Sports Act.

Many people feel that there is a real and unfair physical advantage.

The bill was passed last year but vetoed by Governor John Bel Edwards. Edwards said the bill was mean-spirited and would carry severe economic consequences from out-of-state investors.

Many conservatives now hope that the governor will see the bill differently.
