City of West Monroe to host public meetings for downtown reuse planning

The public is invited to attend two community meetings on Wednesday, February 5 and share their vision of the future of the historic First United Methodist Church in downtown West Monroe and the surrounding area.

Meetings will be held at 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5, both at West Monroe City Hall, located at 2305 N. 7th Street.

The City of West Monroe received a planning grant from the Louisiana Division of Historic Preservation, allowing the city to partner with Atlas Community Studios to complete a feasibility study for revitalizing the historic former First United Methodist Church in downtown. The project will focus on engaging the community to gather input, assessing viable site reuse options, conducting in-depth research and analysis of the church and surrounding area and crafting a practical implementation strategy with funding and operational recommendations.
