Louisiana Opera and ULM VAPA perform 'Fiddler on the Roof' May 18, 19

MONROE, LA – The classic favorite musical “Fiddler on the Roof” will be performed on May 18 and May 19 by the Louisiana Opera and the University of Louisiana Monroe School of Visual and Performing Arts on the ULM campus in Brown Auditorium, 4001 Desiard St in Monroe. On Saturday, May 18, the show will be at 7:30 pm, while on Sunday, May 19, the matinee will start at 2:00 pm.

Tickets can by purchased at the door prior to each performance. General Admission tickets are $20, Faculty/Staff tickets are $10, and student tickets are FREE upon the presentation of a student ID.

This production will feature Metropolitan Opera tenor Allan Glassman singing and acting the role of Tevye, in a role first created by a number of great singer-actors, including Met tenor Jan Pierce. Joining Glassman on stage will be celebrated LA Opera veterans soprano Betsy Uschkrat, and tenor Tyler Smith.

ULM faculty members Claire Vangelisti and Nancy Carey will also take the stage, while crowd favorite Ron Ulen, baritone, will also join this fabulous cast.

In addition, students from ULM productions will be in the show, with the music directed by faculty member Richard Seiler, and the semi-staged performances directed by Mark Ross Clark. The costumer for this show is Margaret Hall, and the technical director is Steven Burnside.

This show has been formed with the permission of Music Theatre International (MTI).

Originally from Monroe, Cory has worked in a variety of media. He has worked in television news and spent seven years as a TV sports play-by-play announcer. He was also creative director for a television advertising department and worked extensively as a photojournalist. Cory has lived in both Dallas and New Orleans.
