Monroe's earthy tasting water should end in a few days

(Monroe, LA) - The City of Monroe Water System has received reports from customers experiencing taste and odor issues in the drinking water supply. These issues stem from naturally occurring, seasonal changes in the bayou, which serves as the primary water source. The changes commonly occur in early spring and fall and are temporary in nature.

The City is taking measures to control and address these issues. The anticipate the adjustments to the water system will clear up the taste and odor issues within the next 3-4 days.

The taste and odor are purely an aesthetic issue and do not affect the safety of the water. The City’s water remains completely safe to drink and use for all purposes.
