(Monroe, LA) - The City of Monroe is excited to announce the completion of the new basketball court mural at Charles Johnson Park, an artistic collaboration with
KaDavien Baylor and Eric Francis. The mural celebrates just a few of our many local athletes that have achieved greatness in their career.

This project is partially funded by a grant from the Making It Public initiative, under the Percent for Art program, administered by the Division of Arts in the Louisiana
Office of Cultural Development. The $10,000 grant, earmarked for public art projects, created two murals at $5,000 each.

One at the Powell Street Community Center basketball court painted by Black Creatives Circle, which was officially unveiled by the City in December 2023. A basketball court at Charles Johnson Park was chosen as the second location for a large-scale mural.

The new art installation will be unveiled during a ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 3, 2024, at 4 PM, at the basketball court at Charles Johnson Park, located at 3313 Bernstein Park Drive.
