City of Monroe set for Forsythe Tennis Courts groundbreaking

The City of Monroe will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the Forsythe Park Tennis Courts Project. The groundbreaking will take place at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, December 12, at Forsythe Park, adjacent to the existing tennis courts.

The Forsythe Tennis Courts Project is part of the City's comprehensive Park Master Plan, which can be reviewed in detail at oneroe.city. This initiative is made possible through the generous support of Discover Monroe West Monroe and Capital Infrastructure Funds.

The groundbreaking event will start construction on a state-of-the-art Clubhouse and Events Center, as well as significant sitework elements. This project aims to upgrade the existing tennis facilities and introduces two brand-new pickleball courts. The total investment for this project is approximately $5.8 million.

Mayor Ellis stated' "Through the generous support of Discover Monroe-West Monroe and the invaluable assistance from our tennis community, our new tennis courts expansion and state-of-the-art clubhouse stand as another remarkable sign of progress. This investment not only elevates the sporting experience for our tennis enthusiasts but also promises a ripple effect of economic growth, expanded opportunities for tournament play, and an enhanced quality of life for our players and residents alike."
