Gov. Edwards Announces Launch of Medical Volunteer Effort

Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards announced today the launch of a coordinated effort to recruit volunteers with medical backgrounds to help with the increased load on the state's healthcare system due to COVID-19.

Led by the University of Louisiana system of eight universities and LSU, the website COVID-19LAvolunteers.orgis now recruiting students in healthcare fields, retirees, and active members of the medical community to sign up to volunteer.

The effort seeks volunteers with backgrounds in the fields of medicine, nursing, allied health professions, dentistry, counseling, mental/behavioral health, and laboratory science, among others. 

Jay calls himself a "media producer" in a world of diversification. Jay earned a Bachelor of Arts in Radio/TV/Film Production from the University of Louisiana at Monroe and worked in video, feature film and television production for over 10 years before joining KEDM full time.
