Trahans View Cancer Diagnosis As "Problem To Be Solved"

lungcanceralliance.org

Experiencing a great deal of calf pain, Andy Trahan went to the doctor to figure out the source of the problem.  After several tests, Andy was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer.

An unimaginable shock for the 35 year old father of three.  Trahan, who lives in Monroe, had never smoked. He eventually learned that the disease was the result of a gene mutation.  He and his family pulled together, prepared to walk together in this journey.

His father, Phil, wanted to mentally prepare himself, and his son, for the road ahead.  "Let's see this as a problem to be solved, than a battle against a beast.  We're going to concentrate on it, and learn as much as we can about it," said Phil.

Through targeted therapy, Andy experienced relief from calf pain, and has seen positive results from his treatments.  He recently attend the Lung Cancer Alliance's Survivor Summit and continues to promote awareness of the disease.

A benefit garage sale to assist with medical expenses for Andy is Saturday, June 13 at 7 a.m., at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Oliver Road in Monroe.
