Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Investigators has identified and located suspect, Christopher Perez, after doing a series of vehicle burglaries that occurred in the Avant Road, Country Estates Road and Sadie Lane areas of West Monroe. Photos of Perez were identified on a surveillance camera at the location of the crime.

Monroe has led to the arrest of Christopher Perez, age 20, of West Monroe.  He is currently being held in OCC on 1 count of Vehicle Burglary and 6 counts of Identity Theft.  The investigation is continuing, more charges are pending and more arrests are expected.

MARRERO, La. (AP) — A teen has been arrested and charged with setting a fire in the Halloween section of a Walmart store in Louisiana earlier this month.

Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Capt. Jason Rivarde told news outlets that 18-year-old Jerrold Jackson of Marrero has been charged with aggravated arson.

Deputies say Jackson is accused of setting a fire Sept 19 in the Walmart in Marrero.

Firefighters and the store sprinkler system had the blaze under control in minutes.

No one was hurt. The fire closed the store for the rest of the day.

Vandalism arrest made in Farmerville

An arrest has been made in Farmerville after an adult and some youths allegedly vandalized old Farmerville High School. There are 10 people ages 12-17 who are suspected of spraying fire extinguishers and causing damages throughout the unused building.

The campus insist on reopening and naming it LA Delta Community College.

An illegal alien from Honduras pleaded guilty last week to possessing a pistol after being arrested in West Monroe.

The State Fire Marshal has arrested a volunteer firefighter in Richland Parish in connection with a mobile home fire that injured his medically disabled wife. Kenneth Fulford was booked into parish prison on multiple offenses. 

 

Fulford was additionally charged with Aggravated Cruelty to animals.

 

Fulford is also a Richland Parish volunteer fire-fighter himself. Rodrigue says it’s unfortunate one of their own was charged, but that’s the way it is.

 

More charges maybe pending.

Baton Rouge police have arrested 49 year old Eric Augustus on 1st degree murder charges of his girlfriend Lovie Variste age 76. Augustus had been living with Variste at the time of her death. Police spokesman Sgt. L’Jean McKneely says Augustus was told to kill his girlfriend.

 

Police say Augustus then allegedly went after her.

 

Strangely enough it was Augustus that ultimately called for help.

 

Augustus is being held without a bond. Police say the victim died yesterday afternoon of blunt trauma to the head.

A Jena man was sentenced last week to more than eight years in prison for downloading hundreds of images and videos of child pornography.

A Ruston man has been arrested and charged with seven counts of attempted second degree murder after purposely driving his vehicle into a crowd of people.

Early Saturday evening, Jason Rockett, 47,  got into an altercation with several people at a residence in the North Village Mobile Park area in Ruston. Witnesses of the altercation say that Rockett backed out of the driveway and then drove forward, crashing into multiple people and hitting a residence. The suspect then fled the scene before deputies arrived.

A Richwood Correctional Center Officer was arrested Saturday during a routine shake-down at the jail for having contraband on his person in the institution.

According to the police report, 41-year-old Tyre D. Manning was discovered with two packs of cigarette tobacco, a cell phone and two sandwich bags of synthetic marijuana. The synthetic marijuana was concealed in a potato chip bag. Manning was then arrested and transported to the Ouachita Correctional Center for booking and confinement.

There is no further information at this time.
