Writer's Almanac
- Monday - Friday, 11:00 a.m.
The Writer's Almanac educates, entertains and inspires listeners with brief facts and poetry related to each day's date. It celebrates the birthdays and works of poets, writers, composers, philosophers and historical figures. Host Garrison Keillor closes each show by reading a wildly diverse selection of poetry, from Keats and Shelley to Mother Goose.
You Bet Your Garden
- Sunday 5-6pm
- Saturday 9-10am
An hour of "chemical-free horticultural hijinks," You Bet Your Garden is a weekly, nationally syndicated Public Radio show airing out of WHYY-FM in Philadelphia that offers fiercely organic advice to gardeners far and wide. Host Mike McGrath offers tips on fending off garden and household pests without the use of toxic chemicals, caring for lawns and landscapes without losing your mind, and growing without groaning in tough conditions like extreme heat, unending rain and lousy soil.
Join Mike as he slays slugs, defeats deer, whacks weeds, mispronounces Latin words and saves plants across the nation every week on You Bet Your Garden - a breezy, light-hearted, and sometimes (OK - frequently) wild and crazy island of highly accurate and family-safe gardening information.
